And now for something entirely different.

I was going to blog something funny today.  Something involving Sabine, Marky Mark, and a donkey.  But I don’t really have it in me today.  So you’ll just have to wait.

Instead, I’d like to talk about Sam.  Those of you who know me on TheBump or FaceBook have probably seen my siggy badge or status updates about Sam.  If you haven’t, let me share his story … Sam is the five month old son to fellow EFFer, Sassy_Cassie, and was diagnosed last month with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma.  Sam underwent surgery at the beginning of April to remove a mass from his scrotum, and recently entered his second round of chemo.

To care for him during his treatments, his mom (who is more fabulous and strong than I could ever hope to be, y’all) dropped to an “as needed” status on her job and was therefor no longer eligible for benefits.  His COBRA payments are $1500 per month which is, obviously, a GIANT chunk of change.  Some wonderful ladies have pulled together to try to help offset this cost for Cassie & family.  I hope that you guys will be able to help, as well.  Every little bit counts.  Here’s what you can do:

Visit BabyRabies, who has set up an incredible drawing with some really great companies.  $5 an entry goes straight to baby Sam, and you get a chance to win some cool prizes.  You really can’t beat that with a big ol’ stick.

Check out the benefit auction put together by the EcoNest, some of the most amazing & talented ladies I know.  The auctions close on the 28th, so you still have plenty of time to enter.  If you’ve never used HyenaCart before, it’s easy.  Just register & the auction process works basically the same as Ebay.

Thanks in advance to everyone who helps out.  Now go hug your babies.

And Sam & Cassie & Alex? Well, they're the shit that killed Elvis. Dig in your pockets and donate, or bid! You know you wanna!

    • Um, that was directed at the air conditioning post…I’m sorry. I hope that Sam and his family raise a ton of money and that he’s healthy as a horse soon!
